The Mel & KaLori Bailey Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting deserving individuals and entities through financial assistance. Our flagship program, the Mel Bailey Scholarship, is focused on aiding young men and women from the greater Los Angeles area in their post-secondary education endeavors.
2025 L.A. TO LA SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Join us in congratulating Mahlia Jules for receiving the 2025 L.A. to LA Scholarship from the Mel & KaLori Bailey Foundation (MKBF). This scholarship was open to any incoming freshman at Xavier University of Louisiana from the Southern California area.
Mahlia is a graduate of Redondo Union High School, where she excelled in varsity track and field and took on leadership roles as a Board Member and Fundraising Manager of the Black Student Union. She will enter Xavier University as a major in Public Health Sciences, with the aspiration of becoming an Environmental Science Attorney. Her motivation is to utilize the law to advocate for communities grappling with pollution, unsafe living conditions, and inadequate access to healthcare.

2025 LA BISON SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
We are delighted to extend our warmest congratulations to Raine Green and Semira Bell for receiving the 2025 LA Bison Scholarship from the Mel & KaLori Bailey Foundation! This scholarship is available to incoming freshmen at Howard University who are from Southern California.
Raine Green is a graduate of the Gifted Magnet program at Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets High School. Each day, she triumphs over the challenges posed by Sickle Cell disease while excelling in three varsity sports: softball, volleyball, and basketball. This outstanding athlete and scholar aims to obtain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and return to her community to establish a wellness center in the Crenshaw District.
Semira Bell, hailing from Inglewood, has recently graduated from Malibu High School. She will begin her journey at Howard University with an impressive 20 college credits already completed. A resilient and bright young woman, Semira faced the unique challenge of being the only Black student in her graduating class. She bravely took the initiative to establish the first Black Student Union at Malibu High School. Her goal is to become a gynecologist and offer support to women in underserved communities.
